"Just saying what type of gun it is, so you dont have to look it up" DiNozzo felt out of place and unneeded but that didnt stop him from anything.

Gibbs had been held up in traffic that morning and was a little late in arriving at work. His coffee in hand, he headed up to the bullpen in the worst mood he had been in in quite a long time. When Gibbs reached his desk, he noticed that the bullpen was relatively empty. None of his team was there. With a sigh Gibbs rolled his eyes and decided to go and find everyone. They had work to do, they had plenty of cases to write up. They didn't have time to be lounging around.
Taking a last sip of his coffee, Gibbs tossed the paper cup in the trash bin by Tony's desk as he headed out of the bullpen and towards the elevators again. Taking them down a few floors to the lab, Gibbs stepped out of them and could hear voices floating in from the other room. He stepped into Abby's lab to find Abby and Tony there, talking animatedly.
"What doesn't she have to look up, DiNozzo?" Gibbs snapped. "You should be at your desk, running the lisence plates I told you to run last night!"

"I did boss, there are over fifty matching cars that are a red suburban, since there was no plate left. The dead guy didnt match any of the owners, but there is another marine who owns a suburban." DiNozzo said hoping he wouldnt be smacked on the head.

"If you were me DiNozzo, would any of this news be doing you any good?" Gibbs asked briskly. "I didn't think so. I want you to pull up the other marine's file, see if he's at all connected to petty officer Wilkes."
Gibbs crossed his arms over his chest in an authoritarian gesture. His stance was a confident, no-nonsense stance. Gibbs stood for only a moment before moving over to where Abby was, looking at her pointedly.
"Abbs, did you run the evidence I asked for?" He inquired a little less snappishly.
Abby was one of the only people on the team, aside from Ducky, that Gibbs could be civil to most of the time. Well, them and maybe Kate. DiNozzo and McGee however he could definitely do without being nice to.

Abby smiled at him. "Yes I did. OK so off of the gun. We found that the serial numbers were filed off, and DiNozzo here started talked about what type of gun it was, and went off an a tangent. Also the gooey stuff you had Dinozzo bring me. I checked what was in it. It's actually melted tar. I Haven't gotten a chance to go over anything else yet. Tony Distracted me." She told him, and gave Tony a glance. She turned her head back toward Gibbs. "I hope some of that helps. Oh and that tar. It's a special brand used by the road crews when they are filling in small gaps after a newly flattened pavement"

"Yessir" DiNozzo got up and left them for a few minutes, gathering all the data he could find.

Gibbs stood near Abby, looking over her shoulder at all of the information and data sheets she had printed out, as well as the mass spec. she had pulled up on the computer screen. Gibbs didn't understand what any of it meant but all he needed was a good translation from science into English from Abby and he would be able to work with what information she was able to give him. He watched as Tony hurried off, having been told to get back to work, and then turned back to Abby.
"Good job, Abbs," he said lightly. "Have you run the forensic evidence Ducky sent up yet? I want to know if there was anything on the body that might help with this case."
He wandered over a little bit to where the weapon they had retrieved from the scene was laying in it's evidence bag. Picking it up, Gibbs examined it closely. Though he wasn't nearly as good with ballistics as Abby, he knew a tampered gun when he saw one. He turned it over and glanced at the base of the handle, seeing that the serial number had indeed been filed off. In the past there had been times that Abby had taken a cast of a handle and had been able to figure out what the numbers were by the patterns that had been left even after the filing, but he supposed that if she hadn't brought it up this time, it hadn't worked when she'd tried. That left them with one less piece of information to work with.

"No i haven't. I just got in a couple minutes ago, and just started working. Give me a couple hours and you'll have all the evidence done, and ready to be used to catch the criminal." Abby smiled at him. She flipped back one of the ponytails that fell into her face. Now that Gibbs had appeared she was a feeling a bit better, and not so everything must die.
